Hardwood China Tariffs
U.S. Court of International Trade upholds hardwood tariffs.
Last week, the U.S. Court of International Trade, in a decision by a 3-judge panel, upheld an additional 25% tariff against the importation of hardwood plywood and hardwood flooring from China imposed by the U.S. Trade Representative.
The tariffs had been challenged by approximately 3,600 import companies who asserted that the U.S. Trade Representative had exceeded its authority. The Trade Representative is still required to perform a four-year review of the tariffs.
The Section 301 tariffs went into effect in 2018 and 2019 and also affected multilayered wood flooring.
