U.S. Maple Syrup Production to New Heights in 2024
Read how U.S. Maple Syrup Production has Jumped 21%...
Maple syrup production surged by 21% in the U.S. in 2024 driven by growth in Northeast states led by the #1 producer –Vermont—which produced 500,000 more gallons over a depressed production level in 2023.
Wisconsin, which ranks fourth among maple syrup-producing states, had a flat production year.
Michigan, which ranks fifth, showed a small decrease in production. New York and Maine rank above Wisconsin and Michigan in production.
Historically, the world leader has been Vermont’s Northern neighbor the Canadian province of Quebec, whose producers maintain a reserve that they can use to dampen price fluctuations. In 2023, the U.S. average production value was $27 a gallon. The 2024 average price has not yet been released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
